Irish Wool ¦ Luxurious Mohair ¦ Supersoft Lambswool ¦ Irish Woollen Mill ¦ Irish Family Business
A woollen mill has stood on this site for over 800 years. Our family, the Cushens, have been involved in woollen textile manufacturing since the 18th century. We are acutely aware of the history and the heritage of which we are part. Every day we walk in the footsteps of our ancestors.
Six Generations of Cushens.
Six generations of our family have been crafting exceptional textiles in Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny. Spinning yarn and weaving blankets, forging a reputation and setting the standard for the marque of quality and excellence that we carry forward today. Together Philip and his daughter Miriam continue this incredible story.
Eight Centuries of History.
In 1204 Duiske Abbey was founded in Graiguenamanagh by the Knight William Marshall and Cistercian monks. As part of this first settlement they constructed a mill adjacent to the abbey on higher ground, the site of our mill today.
Graiguenamanagh.
A picturesque small town located on the river Barrow has a long and distinguished history and tradition of wool and textile manufacturing for over eight centuries. Cushendale and Graiguenamanagh are part of the World Crafts Council designated Craft City & Region, one of only four regions in Europe.
